Pilgrims in the big square in front of Fatima Church, one of the most important ones in Europe. In 1982 Pope John Paul II went to Fatima for thanking Mary for saving his life during the assassination attempt the previous year. In the crown of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima is the bullet removed from the Pope after he had been shot. In 2000, the Pope went again to Fatima and revealed that part of the so-called third secret of Fatima: Mary had prophesized the1981 assassination attempt revealing this to Lucia in 1917.
