Tbourida, also known as `Fantasia` or `Powder Game`, is derived from the word Baroud which means `gunpowder`, is both a traditional and popular Moroccan equestrian art and sport dating back to the 15th century. The latter spread mainly in the Middle Atlas, the High Moulouya and the Moroccan centripetal. It fascinated the painter Eugène Delacroix, who immortalised it in his orientalist period. Two centuries later, the equestrian fantasia, the legacy of an old war tradition, still arouses popular enthusiasm in Morocco.
