Stock Photo: Emerald Tree Boa (Corallus Caninus)

ID 282138049 © Mgkuijpers | Megapixl.com

The Emerald tree boa (Corallus caninus) has highly developed teeth which are extremely long and larger than those of any other non-venomous snake. These long teeth are used to catch spiny rats and other inhabitants of the rainforest. In order to help them even more in catching prey in the pitch dark rainforest undergrowth they have an array of infrared pits that help them to detect body warmth. They are found in the Guianas,Venezuela and some parts of NE Brazil.
