This year 2022 marks the 400th anniversary of the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See being installed in this Palace, which has lived practically without interruption, thus giving its name to one of the most emblematic squares in Rome and the world. From the beginning, the Spanish Embassy to the Papal States served in many respects as a model of what would be the style of European diplomatic presence in papal Rome in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The heart of all this was this Palace of Spain, whose four hundredth anniversary we are celebrating this year! This makes this embassy the oldest permanent diplomatic seat in the world.
