Ear fungus has the scientific name & x22;Auricularia auricular& x22;. This mushroom is known as the ear mushroom because the shape of its fruiting body widens like a human earlobe. The unique characteristic of this mushroom is that it has a fruiting body that is springy when fresh. However, in dry conditions, the fruiting bodies will become hard as bones. Of the three types that are most often consumed is the Black Ear Mushroom.
