The dugong (sometimes spelled dugong) is a large marine mammal, sometimes called the sea cow because of its diet of seagrass. It lives in some parts of the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Indian and Pacific Oceans. They are similar to the manatee, the main difference is that the latter can also be found in the mouths of freshwater rivers.
