Canada Geese and several species of ducks rest on an island just higher than the surrounding water at Clarence Cannon National Wildlife Refuge along the Mississippi River flyway for the migration of waterfowl. Migratory birds use the flooded bottomlands to eat and rest on their way south to warmer regions in the autumn season.
