ID 303768664 © Djpillow | Megapixl.com

Pictured is a door with protective symbols on display in the Dallas Museum of Art in Dallas, Texas. It was created by the Kayan people of East Kalimantan, Indonesia, from 1900-1925. A pair of mythical dog-tigers are carved in low relief and brass inserts and shell disks are used to complete the door. The dog-tiger symbol was used only for aristocrats and was believed to protect the chief's mortal body from human intruders, and his soul from evil spirits.
