The human heart is divided into four chambers: two atria (the left atrium and the right atrium) and two ventricles (the left ventricle and the right ventricle). The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the superior and inferior vena cava. From there, the blood moves into the right ventricle, which pumps it to the lungs for oxygenation. Oxygenated blood returns from the lungs to the left atrium, flows into the left ventricle, and is then pumped out to the rest of the body through the aorta.
