Devin Castle is one of Nitra and Bratislava Castle the oldest historically documented castles in Slovakia. Entitled Dowina mentioned in the Fulda annals of 864 is located at the confluence of the Danube and Morava place inhabited since prehistoric times, part of the border defense system Limes Romanus, important Great Moravian defensive strength, Rastislavova princely fortress. In the 13th century the middle and upper castle, further adjustments were made ​​in the second half of the 16th century, in 1809, the castle was destroyed by Napoleon's troops.
