The Senate Library of Spain is a neogothic-style library located within the Senate building at Plaza de la Marina Española in Madrid. The original design and wrought ironwork that define its architectural space were crafted in the workshop of Bernardo Asins Serralta. The institution's purpose was proposed in 1811 by the Cortes of Cádiz as a legislative library for the consultation of deputies. Over time, its collection has expanded to include various subjects and some bibliographic treasures of the Spanish nation.
