Pictured is detail of a station of the marble fountain for ritual ablutions fountain in the courtyard of of the Alabaster mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo, Egypt. Islam requires every Muslim to wash his face, neck, hands and feet before praying. The mosque was built in memory of Tusun Pasham, the eldest son of Muhammad Ali, who died in 1816. This mosque, along with the citadel, is one of the landmarks and tourist attractions of Cairo. The architect was Yusuf Boshnak and it was completed in 1848.
