Del Norte, Colorado, is known as the gateway to the San Luis Valley and is located about four hours from Denver. Originally a supply town for miners, this small town offers a rich history, a charming historic district, and plenty of outdoor adventures. Surrounded by the Rio Grande National Forest, visitors can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. Although Del Norte was once a town of 10,000 and was vying to become the state capital, it now has a modest population of 1500 and welcomes visitors with its Old West spirit and breathtaking scenery.
