This scene is set on the main waterway of the Grassy Waters Preserve; a 15,360 acre remnant of the original Florida Everglades. The preserve was established over 100 years ago by Henry Flagler to provide drinking water for the new town of West Palm Beach. This canal is the outlet to the city waterworks.
