In 1914, the Canadian Pacific Railway built a side-line to the Kootenay Mountains that required building a system of several bridges and tunnels just East of Hope, BC to build the line straight through the one hundred metre deep gorge that the Coquihalla River had eroded into the granite rock of the mountains. View into the canyon from the old railway track, Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada.
