The Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce is housed in the Perkins Building, which was the site of the Dalton Raid in 1892. Bob, Grat, and Emmet Dalton, along with Dick Broadwell and Bill Powers, wanted to rob two banks at once. Three of them entered Condon Bank and two entered First National. The townspeople gathered guns and ammunition to defend the town. After the ensuing gun battle, four of the Dalton gang and four citizens were dead. Emmet Dalton was shot 23 times, but survived.
