The church was built on the foundations of an old place of worship from the period of the Roman Empire. It is located at the foot of ?egra, not far from the monument erected in honor of ?egra heroes. According to tradition, Stevan Sin?eli? took communion with his army in this Church when he was going into battle. The church was in ruins for a long time, until the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Cegro, when the Government of the Republic of Serbia, through the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, built a new church from the ground up.
