Two major earthquakes (2010 & 2011) and recurring aftershocks caused widespread damage to the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. There was extensive damage to many buildings and infrastructure as well as numerous fatalities. To date, this city is still recovering from the effects of these earthquakes.
