Changchun Shrine is a commemorative building located within Taroko National Park in Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan, approximately 2.3 kilometers from the entrance of Taroko Gorge. The shrine was built to honor the spirits of 226 construction workers who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. Due to the challenging nature of the project, fatalities were not uncommon. In 1958, the Taiwan Provincial Highway Bureau chose a location across from a natural spring and waterfall to build the shrine as a way to pay tribute to the workers who lost their lives.
