After years of cultivation and in a bid to return the dunes to their natural state, Natural England who manage the Ainsdale Dunes Reserve (Merseyside) cut down large swathes of the pine forests. Five years on and the sand dunes had shifted, as was the intention, leaving dozens of now bared tree roots, which resemble fantasy type 'creatures', such as this 'chameleon elephant', pointing the way over yonder!
