Situated at the entrance to the non-tidal River Ancholme the cement works has been producing cement in the village of South Ferriby for over 70 years. Over that period, the plant has provided much needed rural employment for several generations of mainly local people and supplied its essential building material not just locally but over a wide area of the UK.
