Dragon Cave, the jewel of Kastoria, is located on the second kilometer of the lakeside road, just before the Mavriotissa Monastery. The entrance to the cave was discovered in 1954 and thanks to the diligence and care of the locals and the researchers, the cave opened to public in 2009. According to the legend, the cave was a gold mine, guarded by a dragon which breathed flames poisonous vapors.
