View from Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, looking out over Lago Izabal. Castillo de San Felipe is a fort located at the entrance to Lago Izabal in Rio Dulce, Guatemala. It was built by the Spanish in 1644 to protect the nearby port from attacks by English pirates. Today the fort is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
