The California huckleberry, Vaccinium ovatum, actually grows along the whole of the Pacific Coast of North America as far north as British Columbia in Canada.
This plant does not need much sun, and prefers more acidic soils, is being seen in `Native Gardens`.
The berry can be enjoyed raw, in jams or in breads.
