The Greek youth Antinous, who was the favorite of the Roman emperor Hadrian and deified after his early death. By order of Hadrian, many statues of Antinous were made in the form of gods and deities of the Greek and Roman pantheons. Here Antinous is presented as the god of trade and deception Mercury with a characteristic attribute - wings on his head. This marble statue was discovered in 1769 at Hadrian's Villa near Tivoli (Italy). Exhibited at the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg. Russia
