The Scherenbergtor Gate is the only gate access to the inner castle courtyard of Marienberg Fortress. The gate castle with protruding round towers on both sides was completed in 1482. A coat of arms below the left arch next to the three Franconian apostles with the date 1482 refers to the prince-bishop Rudolf II von Scherenberg who gave the castle its name.
