Pictured is a brown Pelican, binomial name Pelecanus occidentalis, flying over Chokoloskee Bay in Florida. The brown pelican mainly feeds on fish, but occasionally eats amphibians, crustaceans, and the eggs and nestlings of birds. Chokoloskee Bay is roughly 10 miles long and 2 miles wide. It is located along Florida’s Gulf Coast and is separated from the Gulf of Mexico by the Ten Thousand Islands.
