Brown-headed Gull Larus brunnicephalus Jerdon, adult summer plumage has a light brown head that deepens into a black collar at the neck, a pure white neck below the collar, narrow white spots behind the eyes, and light gray on the inside of the shoulders, back, and wings, the outer wing has white overlying feathers the primary flight feathers are white with black apex and egg-shaped white spots at the proximal ends of the outermost two the waist to tail is white the lower body is pure white the iris is dark brown to tawny and the beak and webbed feet are deep red.
