Brazilian folk dance Tambor de Crioula in São Luis, Maranhão. The Drum-of-Creole (Tambor-de-Crioula) is a tradition of the descendants of African slaves. It is a sensual dance, exciting, presenting variations on the pace and form of dance, which has no fixed timetable, although it is practiced especially in praise to St. Benedict, the most popular saint among the black people. It is danced only by women who make a wheel. In the center of the wheel only one of them dance. The rhythm of the dance is held for 3 drums: Roncador (large), socador (medium) and crivador (small).
