Mèze is a French commune located in the south of the department of Hérault, in the Occitanie region. It belongs to the urban community of Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée. Its inhabitants are called Mézois.Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Nègue Vaques stream, the Pallas stream, the Font Frats stream, the Sacristains stream and by various other small streams. The town has a remarkable natural heritage: two Natura 2000 sites (the "herbariums of the Thau pond" and the "Thau pond and lido of Sète in Agde"), a protected area (the "Thau pond" ) and two natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.
