This one block dead end ally of Blackstone Court in San Francisco has nothing to do with any type of stone found in the area. It is named for Nathanial Blackstone, a local merchant who built his home here around 1853.
This spot was chosen as it was near Washerwoman Lagoon, which still ran at the time.
The odd angle of the road was because it originally followed an old trail, since gone.
The two original homes are now behind security gates.
