Pictured is a black-winged stilt, himantopus himantopus, feeding at the Adrere Ammellal eco-lodge in the Siwa Oasis in Egypt. The bird is in shallow water just inside the low protective wall that shields the lodge from the water of the oasis. These birds pick up their food from sand or water. They eat mainly insects and crustaceans.
