Pictured is a black-throated sparrow on a horizontal log perch in the Transitions Wildlife Photography Ranch near Uvalde, Texas. The binomial name is Amphispiza bilineata. It is sometimes referred to as the desert sparrow, due to its preferred habitat of arid desert hillsides and scrub.
