BISON (Lat. Bison BONASUS, Eng. Wisent, Buffalo, Bison, Ger. Wisent) - steers (Bovinae) subfamily Bovid mammal. Close to the American bison, with readily cross. Common in Europe. Bison male body length of about 3 m and more, the height of the belt of up to 2 m, the posterior part of the body height of 1.6 m, tail length of 0.85 m. Large male can weigh up to tons, but the average Lithuanian bison swelling mass of about 500 kg. Pronounced sexual dimorphism: females per male around 30% lighter, smaller body size and less covered with hair. Lithuanian bison more massive than sour, it's lighter, the hair is straight and longer.
