Big Tex made his debut 68 years ago at the 1952 State Fair after artist Jack Bridges altered a mixed media statue of Santa Claus which the Fair had purchased from merchants in Kerens, Texas. His clothes are made by Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company at the original Dickies plant in Fort Worth that opened in 1922. His size 96 boots are a 1949 replica boot designed by Lucchese.
