The Tekes River is a Central Asian river, a tributary of the Ili River that flows through southeastern Kazakhstan and northwestern China. It belongs to the inner flow basin of Lake Balkhash.
The Turks Mountains originate from the northern slope of the Turks Mountains, crosses the border into China, in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. It goes east along the valley, gradually turns northeast, and finally turns north and crosses the ridge connecting it with the Ili River Valley separated by a narrow passage. Not far away, it merges with the Kunges River, leading to the long Yili River.
