The Roman Catholic main parish church of Villach is dedicated to St. Jacob. The spacious, late-Gothic hall church with a west tower stands in a dominant position at the end of the main square in Villach. With its 94 meters, the tower of the Jakobskirche, which was already famous in the Middle Ages and has been redesigned several times, is the highest in Carinthia. The tower apartment is reached via 239 steps. From the gallery there is a wonderful view of the city and a magnificent view from the Hohe Tauern to the Julian Alps.
