The barrage and sluice construction in Driel was opened in 1970 and is part of a series of 3 sluices in the river Lek, in the Netherlands. It keeps the water in the lower parts of the river on a acceptable level, while fish can still get through it. Next to the sluices there are separate locks for ships to get through
