Rhododendrons and azaleas, both from the genus Rhododendron. With thousands of varieties, there are rhododendrons and azaleas for just about every landscape situation. this genus contains about 1000 species, of which especially the Satsuki (Rhododendron indicum) and Kurume azalea (Rhododendron kiusianum and Rhododendron kaempferi) are commonly used for Bonsai. The azalea is popular for its spectacular flowers, which open in May - June and come in many different colours, shapes, sizes and patterns.
