The Church of the Divine Wisdom. Interior of the Ayasofya Mosque in Istanbul during it's renovation. This picture was taken in 1985. In an recent article I read the 30 million gold tesserae (tiny mosaic tiles) which cover the church's interior are still being restored to the brilliance they boasted 1500 years ago.
