Ash trees, also known as Fraxinus chinensis Roxb, are a deciduous tree with a height of 10-12 meters The bark is grayish brown and longitudinally split. Buds broad ovate or conical, covered with brown pubescence or glandular hairs. Branchlets are yellowish brown, rough, glabrous or sparsely villous, immediately bald, with small lenticels and inconspicuous appearance. Fraxinus chinensis is a samara spoon shaped tree with a length of 3-4 cm and a width of 4-6 mm. It is the widest in the upper and middle part, with a sharp tip, often in the form of a plow head. Its base is gradually narrow, its wings are flat, and it extends down to the middle of the nut. The nut is cylindrical with a length of about 1.5 cm The persistent calyx adheres closely to the base of the nut, often opening deeply on one side. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from July to September.
