Arenal Volcano is an active andesitic stratovolcano in northwestern Costa Rica, around 90 km north west of San Jose, in the province of Alajuela. The conically shaped Arenal Volcano measures at least 1.633 metres. In 1968 it had an eruption and destroyed the small town of Tabacon. Is considered Costa Rica most active volcano.
