The archway, similar to the memorial archway, is one of the traditional Chinese buildings. It was first seen in the Zhou Dynasty and was originally used as a memorial to honor filial piety. Later, it was built in gardens, temples, palaces, tombs, and streets. Beijing is the city with the most archways in China. Miaoying Temple, commonly known as White Pagoda Temple, is located at 171 Fuchengmen Inner Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. It was first built in the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279) and rebuilt in the first year of the Ming Dynasty (1457). The White Pagoda inside the temple is one of the earlier and larger Tibetan style pagodas from the Yuan Dynasty in China.
