Geneva, 86th Salon de l`Auto Alongside the Arash AF10, the British company have the Arash AF 8 Cassini on display. The Arash AF8 Cassini is a new model that looks visually similar the AF8 presented two years ago but with a few key changes to set it apart. The Arash AF8 Cassini gets a 7.0 litre V8 engine with 550 bhp, an additional 45 hp over the standard model. It produces 640 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm with a 0 to 60 mph time of just under 3.5 seconds. Top speed is said to be over 196 mph. Contributing to this are the 350 carbon fibre body and chassis parts which help achieve a 1,200 kg dry weight. The engine is mid-mounted and coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The body panels are carbon fibre over a high tensile tubular steel chassis with integrated front and real roll over bars. The design incorporates a flat underfloor, rear diffuser, front spoiler and rear spoiler. So where does the name Cassini come from? The answer is Giovanni Cassini, an Italian engineer and mathematician who practiced his trade in the 1600’s. He is perhaps best known for discovering the rings on Saturn. We’re not certain on the link between man and car though!
