An amphora is an elegant vessel with a body expanded at the top and narrowed at the bottom, a narrow neck and two vertically placed handles, usually made of clay. They were most common among the Greeks, Romans, Etruscans. Ordinary clay amphoras were a mass product, used mainly for the transportation and storage of olive oil or wine.
