Anak Krakatau volcanic cone consists of old volcanic cones and young volcanic cones that are still active. The old volcanic cone did not show the true cone because the top of the cone disappeared by the eruption leaving behind a large crater wall and the highest peak of 155.66 m. The walls of this crater open to the southeast, but in 1999 the old volcanic cone and the active cone coalesced to form a large volcanic cone composed of layers of material falls and lava flows. Prior to that, this active cone was formed in the center of the old cone and its highest peak in 1983 was 201.446 m. As a result of eruptions that occur periodically, the growth of these young cones becomes bigger and covers the old cones. In 2000, these young cones reached a height of 300 m. Since the beginning of October 2018, this volcano has shown its activity. It is characterized explosive eruptions that spewed volcanic material.
