The coccinellidae beetle (also called the ladybug) is a small beetle that forms the family Coccinellidae. They are easy to recognize because of their small round appearance and colorful backs and some types have spots. Lay people sometimes call the koksi beetle a ladybug, because of its size and hard shield, but this beetle is not at all from the ladybug family (Hemiptera). This insect is known as a farmer's friend because some of its members prey on pest insects such as aphids. However, there are several species of koksi that also eat leaves and become parasites on plants.
