Pictured is an Eastern Gray Squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis, on the ground among Crevice alumroot at the Dallas Arboretum in Texas. It is the most common squirrel found in dallas and is medium-sized, with grayish-brown fur, a white or slightly yellowish underbelly, and a bushy tail. They are active during the daytime and are known for their acrobatic abilities and agility when climbing trees and leaping from branch to branch. They primarily feed on nuts, seeds, fruits, and sometimes insects. Crevice alumroot is a species of Alumroots and is commonly known as Hartweg's alumroot and Small-flowered alumroot. The botanical name is Heuchera micrantha.
