ID 24574030 © Lindamore | Megapixl.com

Amur leopards (Panthera pardus orientalis) used to cover areas of China, Russia, and the Korean peninsula but this subspecies have been listed by the IUCN as critically endangered, meaning that they are facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild. The dramatic decline is mainly due to poaching of both leopards and their prey animals, and habitat destruction due to human activity. The Leopard is one of the four 'big cats' in the Panthera genus along with the tiger, lion and jaguar.
