Alstonia scholaris functions as a shade plant because the tree is quite tall and has a wide canopy. This gummy tree can reach 45 m in height. The leaves are single with an elongated oval and lanceolate shape. The top surface of the leaves is smooth, while the bottom is opaque, tough like skin. Leaf length 10-23 cm and width 3-7.5 cm. The flowers are compound flowers and are bright green or yellowish white. Fragrant floral aroma. Both flower surfaces are smooth and dense.
